Longest flight routes in the world

Air traveling

Travel when done rarely is an adventure for people. But frequent travel becomes a little tiring for people especially the period of going from one place to another which we call transit or time in the plane.

Now airlines have always gone on cost-cutting. With changes in oil prices and better technology in terms of machine production and better planes, things have changed.  The nonstop hours on the plane have made a new kind of jetlag shape up in people. Consequently, there have been so many works and tasks accomplished as more and more people can be connected and flown easily.

  • The main benefits of having direct long haul flights are
  • There is a demand between nonstop flights between business hubs.
  • Fuel efficient planes make long flights more profitable.
  • Less carbon footprint with long haul flights, as take-off and landing, causes 25 percent of a plane’s emissions.

Now let us share with you one of the few longest flight routes in the world

1) Singapore – Newark

This is the world’s longest route. Beginning from the Far East, it goes to the North American continent. This route is a great one to connect two main business hubs. This air distance is pretty long and covered by using the airline’s Airbus A350-900 XWB. A few important details of this route are

  • Distance: 9,534 miles
  • Flight time: 18 hours, 30 minutes
  • Aircraft: Airbus A350-900ULR

Singapore Airlines, serve three meals on this route. Also, in 2019 a total of 728 flights were finished successfully by them. This route was amidst trouble between 2004 and 2013 due to a variety of issues. However, in 2014 and onwards the long haul flight was taken positively.

  • Aircraft: Airbus A380

This service began in the year 2016 and on an annual basis, more than 700 flights have been successful annually.

5) Singapore – Los Angeles

One business hub to another will always be important. Singapore is the place of future, so it is natural for them to have direct flights with other major cities in the world. US and Singapore are two opposite poles of sorts. So landing on the longest route we have another city of US with travel itinerary with Singapore.

  • Distance: 8,770 miles
  • Flight time: 17 hours, 50 minutes

  • Aircraft: Boeing 787-9

The United Airlines use the amazing Boeing that is comfortable for travelers. It must be noted this is the longest route of United Airlines.

Thanks to even better aircraft improvement and technology this schedule is on number seven.

  • Distance: 8,578 miles
  • Flight time: 17 hours, 10 minutes
  • Aircraft: Airbus A380

Qantas Airline is the flying team behind this long schedule.

  • Distance: 8,447 miles
  • Flight time: 17 hours, 20 minutes (United), 17 hours, 35 minutes (Singapore Airlines)
  • Aircraft: Boeing 787-9 (United), Airbus A350-900/A350-900ULR (Singapore Airlines)

This is one of the top longest routes that boasts of two airlines flying for it. There were around 2,500 flights being flown on the route in 2019.

10) Johannesburg-Atlanta

This route includes Atlanta – the busiest aviation hub of the world. Also, there is a daily flight scheduled on this route. From northern to Southern hemisphere, the world is literally shrinking with people coming to another place in less than 24 hours.
