Hot Meals are Back at American Airlines Lounges

American Airlines Admiral Lounge

American Airlines is offering again the hot meals in its Admirals Club Lounges.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was offering alternative food service. But now the passengers at the airline lounges can enjoy hot sandwiches, mac and cheese, and pizza.

Precautionary Measures

However, as the airline reopens its lounges, it will follow health precautions which include a staff member serving food behind a plastic divider as an alternative to buffet-style dining. Moreover, it is mandatory to wear face masks when inside the lounge. There will be floor marking for passengers to follow proper social distancing. And hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the lounge.

However, it will be operating at a limited capacity of about 50 percent to allow for seamless social distancing.

For the last few months, passengers at the Admiral Clubs had to choose from prepackaged individually wrapped selections. Such as sandwiches and snacks. However, this week the airline announced that the passengers will be able to choose a meal from its extended menu. And it will include complimentary hot food such as scrambled eggs, soups, mac & cheese. It will return to Admirals Club lounges on August 12. Signature for-sale menu items like sandwiches and salads will be available to order via QR code starting August 19.

Those looking for some local fare can enjoy a deep-dish pizza at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport or brisket at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

“When Admirals Club lounges began reopening in June. We made robust enhancements to reinforce the well-being of guests and team members who work in the lounges as part of our multi-tiered Clean Commitment strategy,” the airline’s Vice President of Global Marketing & Digital, Janelle Anderson, said in a statement.

Thoughtful Decision

“Our guests tell us they’ve been eager for their menu favorites to return, and we are excited to bring those items back, all while following CDC guidelines and maintaining our commitment to providing a safe and clean service with care.”

However, in July Delta reopened its Sky Club lounges across the country. It was offering limited food service to passengers and with the option of grab & go.

Similar to other airline Americans had also made major changes to its inflight food and beverage service. In which it has to ban alcohol, change snack options, and reducing the activity of cabin crew in the aisle.

American Airline Lounges

American Airlines offers three tiers of lounge experience for its premium and elite passengers. It offers Admirals Clubs for domestic travelers and requires a membership.

The second one Flagship lounges are present in international gateways and provide services for international premium-cabin passengers and upper-level elites.

Whereas, the third one is Flagship First dining facilities in this one the passengers flying in three-cabin first class are invited.

All four of AA’s Flagship First dining facilities remain closed. However, all Admirals Clubs were not offering services such as food and beverages, restroom and showers. Moreover, many of them closed the physical spaces as well.
