Alaska Airlines announced today seven new routes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to further connect its passengers between Southern California and key markets around the country, including the first nonstop service from the West Coast to Fort Myers/Naples, Fla. (RSW) from both LAX and Seattle.
However, it is adding many flights from Los Angeles and San Diego for the coming months. The airline is adding more routes in order to cater to the passengers’ demand for the Southern California market.
It is a Seattle-based airline. And on Thursday it announced that it will add seven new routes from Los Angeles International Airport. Therefore, it includes the first nonstop flight to Fort Myers, Florida, a popular East Coast vacation spot, and additional Hawaii flights.
However, because of these new routes, the airline number of nonstop destinations will increase. Alaska will fly to 35 nonstop destinations from LAX this winter with a strong platform for future growth.
The airline was able to operate flights in California because of its 2016 purchase of Virgin America. However, it has been increasing the number of destinations since then. Moreover, the airline recently announced its service to five new destinations earlier this year.
The California airport is already serving most major airlines. Moreover, JetBlue also says that it plans to shift its services from Long Beach, California, to LAX, this fall.
“LAX is one of Alaska’s important hub markets and continues to offer valuable opportunities for selective expansion,” Brett Catlin, Alaska’s managing director of capacity planning and alliances, said in a statement.
Alaska is also adding new nonstop flights to Florida from San Diego, Portland and Seattle.
