Airbnb aims to offer convenience and peace of mind to hosts of visitors in the midst of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
“More Flexible Reservations” has been launched by the home-sharing network, a new suite of tools and services designed to help users manage confusion following recent travel restrictions and elevated advisories. The updates include incentives for flexible hosts; a simple traveler search filter and a 100 percent refund of Airbnb guest service fees.
Hosts will now have new tools to directly allow additional cancellation refunds via Airbnb, which will also have promotions that improve the exposure for the listings of versatile hosts. As of June 1, 2020, Airbnb will also waive its regular 3 percent host fee for new reservations for such listings.
The company is introducing filters for Airbnb guests to make it easier to find and book accommodation options that have the most appropriate cancellation policy based on their needs, whether flexible, mild or strict.
“While it is clear that the coronavirus will have an impact on the entire travel and tourism industry, we believe travel will recover in the long run. It is one of the largest and most resilient industries in the world,” Airbnb stated.
